Our client is a high-growth Fitness/Dance Tech platform with empowerment and self-confidence at its very core. Founded in 2018, the company closed the world’s first diverse, all-female investment round covered by Forbes with the ambition to scale our subscription-based on-demand classes, and best-in-class instructor training programs across the globe with a life-changing class on every corner, and on every device.
Due to COVID taking the world online, our global community grew by 1100% in 2020 thanks to launching the digital proof of concept for our on-demand dance classes off the back of features by Grazia, Cosmopolitan, Hello!, Huff Post, The Times, Insider, The Independent, Refinery29 and even Instagram themselves who recommended the IG Live classes in their roundup of the best IG Live events in the world. 2020 also saw the expansion of the instructor network, launching the first international in-person locations in Australia and Amsterdam, while continuing to build our presence across the UK.
Our client is now moving into a new phase of growth, building a global tech platform that allows users to access both their in-person and online classes through one digital destination.
As our CTO, your role is to ensure our tech is intuitive and innovative to support a seamless user experience, bringing the exceptional class experience to life and establishing the brand as the #1 global Fitness/DanceTech platform for the mass market consumer.
Your role will start with building the first iteration of the mobile/web platform that our customers can trust, which is easy to use and removes any barriers to making the online and offline class experience as exceptional as possible.
This is an opportunity to make an impact, putting in place the building blocks from which our long-term tech estate and tech team will be built. To do this, you will need an entrepreneurial mindset, working directly with the CEO, using your strong technical background and skill set to bring our product vision to life.
Scope out and build the first iteration of the mobile/web platform based on the long term vision for our tech estate, which you will lead
Evaluate and deploy a variety of technologies to integrate the offline and online components of the business, putting intuitive, seamless customer experience at the heart of your tech architecture
Be responsive to feedback from our international network of instructors and students
Identify and hire key technical roles, delegating responsibilities as the business progresses and the platform evolve.
The ideal candidate will have:
7+ years of experience building e-commerce products that serve consumers.
Worked in or with early-stage businesses or on new product development
Experience with agile development techniques and rapid iteration
Experience with modern web development technologies across the front- and back-end
Built products serving an international market
Be highly organised and be able to work to deadlines
Love for the quality of your work and attention to detail
Confidence with best practices, patterns, and techniques in software development, but also a love of learning and personal development
Clear written and spoken English
