Job Description

At Planet Organic, we are looking for a Financial Accountant to join our head office team on a 12 Month FTC (Maternity Cover).

Key Responsibilities

  • To input prime financial data and ensure the accuracy of the Sage accounting database and Exact database
  • To provide periodic reporting (daily, weekly, period and annual)
  • To ensure the annual statutory accounts are completed accurately and within deadlines agreed by the Finance Manager
  • To create and submit quarterly VAT returns and annual Packaging declarations
  • To provide financial assistance daily as required by the needs of the business

Daily tasks:

  • Sales reporting
  • Store banking reconciliations
  • Bank account reconciliation
  • Review of the TRS Loss prevention module and investigation of issues arising
  • Invoice generation and Credit control for Sales ledger

Weekly tasks:

  • Sales reporting
  • Wastage reporting
  • Audit reporting & investigations
    • Discrepancies
    • Refunds
    • Voids
    • Low-value transactions
  • Bank account (including coupons) and Sales Ledger reconciliations
  • E-Commerce reconciliation
  • The input of Own label accounting and reconciliation of “Exact” to Sage
  • Audit of cash handling processes in stores

Period tasks:

  • Prepare the period-end accounts as per the P/end checklist
  • Contribute to the commentary and analysis of the period end accounts
  • Maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the Sage database (P/End closure, administration)
  • Reconcile various activities e.g. Fixed Assets and provide detailed analyses as requested

Quarterly tasks:

  • Calculation and submission of VAT declarations and payments
  • Manage the stocktake process and analyse results

Annual tasks:

  • Supervise the reconciliation of supplier payments
  • Prepare the year-end accounts and update the lead schedules and statutory accounts workbook
  • Prepare the Packaging declaration

Prerequisites

Qualifications required:

  • Part qualified accountant (AAT, CIMA, ACCA) or having experience through similar roles

Personal attributes:

  • Accurate, dedicated, attentive to detail, numerical, logical
  • Ability to articulate & communicate with store managers and senior managers with regards to financial issues
