Job Description

We’re looking for a Chief Finance Officer to join our Leadership Team and partner closely with our CEO in advancing Invivo’s Mission globally, whilst leading and evolving our Finance function. You’ll be excited to join our purposeful, sustainable, and ethical Healthcare & Biotech Company, B Corp business and relish working in a fast-paced and growing organisation.

Based in our Stroud head office (+ sometimes working from our Bristol Laboratory), the CFO is a permanent full-time role (P/T considered), with a competitive salary of approximately £82,000 per annum alongside a benefits package designed to nurture your wellbeing and personal development. There is also the potential for the candidate to be granted share options. The role will also allow you to work 60% from the head office, and 40% from home during the month

Key Responsibilities

Your core role will be to build and manage the company finance functions to ensure we have the right framework for future success as the business ambitiously scales over the next few years. The role will require a hands-on approach with the end goal of supporting the business financially and operationally. You’ll collaborate with our CEO and Leadership team to help drive the company’s vision, mission, and strategic objectives. Reporting to the CEO, the CFO will be a key member of the leadership team with full control of the finance function and a key contributor to the strategic direction of the business going forward.

The Head of Finance will be responsible for all accounting related activities, including the day-to-day running of our finance team, full budgeting, forecasting, company profitability and 5-year planning activity. The role holder will be responsible for appraising and building the financial framework for the company as well as having oversight of core operational activities within the company. Commercial support to the operations and sales functions, including pricing support for new business, working closely with the CEO and the rest of the Board to appraise new growth opportunities, and potential exit strategies to maximise shareholder return is also key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help the leadership team to achieve budget and 5-year plan growth targets
  • Develop business cases for key in-market decisions, such as new product launches or expansion into channels
  • Contribute to advancing operational efficiencies across the company
  • Build a detailed understanding of the full P&L and make recommendations on how to improve profitability.
  • Prepare insightful commentary and analysis on business performance
  • Develop the rolling monthly forecasting process in line with the reporting requirements of the group

Prerequisites

You’ll have a passion for leadership and have demonstrable experience in creating the best possible conditions for the success of your team. You’ll be an inspiring people leader who cherishes your responsibility for developing and nurturing talent. An excellent communicator and influencer, you’ll have the ability to make the complex simple.

Candidates should be qualified accountants (ACA / CIMA / ACCA) and a proven CFO or Head of Finance who has operated at the board level and managed complexity. You will also have in-depth experience across a broad range of financial disciplines including Commercial Finance, Financial Control, Financial Planning, and International Sales & Reporting. Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work fluidly with information across a diverse array of teams and systems are all essential. The CFO will need to have strong leadership skills and have managed broad scope of finance functions. Commercial acumen and gravitas as well as being comfortable working with sales and an ERP system would be essential. A private equity background, including having taken a business to an exit would be advantageous.
