About Karma
Karma, founded in Sweden in November 2016, is a social-impact led tech company dedicated to battling one of the world’s largest climate issues: food waste. With the Karma app, restaurants and grocery stores sell surplus food to consumers at a lower price. As a result, consumers eat great food while saving money, and businesses receive an additional revenue stream and reach new customers — all while saving the environment. It’s a win-win-win.
Since launching, Karma’s 660,000 users have diverted an average of 420 tonnes of edible food from landfill and reduced CO2 levels caused by food waste by 630 tonnes which equates to 48,000 days of car use compensated. In it’s Series A funding, Karma raised $12 million to expand its mission to counteract food waste across the globe.
